Basic Coding Fundamentals 6 CEU’s Bring your ICD-9-CM code book
A full day of basic ICD-9-CM coding for Long Term Care. This session is designed to provide instruction for staff new to medical records, the business office, MDS, or those who may not have a good understanding of coding basics. Topics will include the format of ICD-9-CM, how to use the code book, coding conventions, basic steps to code accurately, chapter by chapter guidelines for coding diagnoses and standards of ethical coding. This workshop includes our exclusive Long Term Care Coding Compliance Handbook($45.00 value).

Handouts for this session will be emailed. Please be sure to include a legible email address with your registration.
This session is for staff who have a good understanding of coding basics and have attended a prior basic coding workshop sponsored by LTCHIM. Topics will include the 2010 ICD-9-CM code revisions and NEW codes, discussion of problematic coding issues and how these impact your coding accuracy, MDS, and reimbursement.
Participants who are not attending the Basic Coding Fundamentals session may purchase the updated Long Term Care Coding Compliance Handbook for $40.00 if paid in advance along with registration (optional). Handbooks will not be available for purchase at the door.
Accumulation of “What’s New” in Long Term Care
This session will include an assortment of topics including a recapitulation of the 2009 National HIM Spring Meeting, update on ICD-10 and MDS 3.0, RAC audits, HIM regulatory update, QIS Survey, and other Tools and Tips. We will end the day with an open discussion on current topics in long term care. Bring your questions, we hope to have the answers.
